It feels like I've blinked...

12 weeks today...

Suddenly Catherine is 12 weeks old today! I went and took her to get weighed today and she's now a lovely healthy 5.31kg... Put on almost 1kg since her 6 week checkup and is still cruising at about the 50th percentile on the charts. She's so funny, because as I was taking her clothes off to get her weighed she was all smiley and happy... I think she thought she was going to have a bath (and she really looooves her baths!)

Other updates...

- Sleeping at night, on the whole is improving... She's in the cot now and she generally does a long-ish stretch at the beginning of the night from 7pm-12/1am and needs a quick resettle at about 11pm. Feeds at 12/1am and then sleeps 'til about 4am/5am when it's another feed. And then it's hit or miss whether there's another couple of hours sleep after that feed or a 40 minute sleep. That's the general pattern... although she has been known to wake again 1-2 hours after the midnight feed, which makes for a crappy night for me... (like last night... also compounded by Phan snoring and Elizabeth waking me to look for a toy she'd lost in her bed just as I was falling asleep after resettling Catherine... which meant I pretty much had no sleep after 4:30am this morning... *yawn*).

- Sleeping during the day however, is another story... We have a serial catnapper here... she sleeps in 30-40 minute bursts... occasionally I can resettle her, but if she's not settled after 10-15 minutes, I get her up to play for another 15-20 minutes. It means I have to organise my day to cram as much as I can in while she naps (my shower, getting Elizabeth dressed for the day, hanging out laundry, playing with Elizabeth, cooking dinner, squeezing in my own nap)... It takes a bit of planning! At least she's sleeping in the cot now... but these short naps are hard work! Just persevering for the meantime... because really, there's not a lot else I can do...

- Catherine likes company... she's actually heaps better than Elizabeth, in that she will actually happily lie on her playmat or sit in her bouncer for 15-20 minutes at a time... (I was lucky to get 5 mins out of Elizabeth)... but I noticed today she wasn't quite as happy to do that and I think it was because Elizabeth was at kindy and she didn't have anyone to watch... It's actually quite cute because if Catherine starts making agitated noises while she's on the playmat, Elizabeth will come and sit/lie right next to her and hold her hand or talk to her and then Catherine will stop...

- Every night before bed, Elizabeth has been asking if she can say goodnight to Catherine, so we quietly tiptoe into her room and Elizabeth peers into the cot and whispers "Goodnight Catherine." and then we tiptoe out again... it's so sweet that she wants to say goodnight to her baby sister.

Okay... well, now I'm off to have an early night to try and compensate for last night... nightie night!
